Visually Impaired Computing Group
Roy, Bill, Terry, Olive and Karen

Roy, Bill, Terry, Olive and Karen are a group of students who have a visual impairment or no vision at all. Aged between 42 and 80, the group are dealing with the loss of their sight, but at the same time they have been keen to explore the things that can assist them in their daily lives, especially through using new technology.
The experience of the Visually Impaired Computing Group shows that there is no barrier to learning, which cannot be overcome by personal dedication and commitment. As the group say, “Because of what we have learned we are going to live a more enjoyable life, and cope more effectively with ordinary everyday living. We know this because we’ve started already”.
