Confintea VI; Learner & Provider Event
Edinburgh: 1st November – 1st December 2008, 13:00PM.
Scotland November 2008.
The Scottish Learners’ Forum recently met with the Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning who agreed to provide Scottish Government support for a learner and provider international preparatory meeting later this year. The meeting will explore issues of commonality and diversity ahead of the forthcoming world adult learning conference in 2009.
Common Approaches, will bring together of world leaders in this field to seek action but more reasonably to seek the where-with-all to pursue right action”.
Adult learning organisations across the world are working together for a better world. We believe that it is every person’s responsibility to make sure that every other person lives in peace, free of violence and fear, that every person has shelter, food, access to good medical care and an education that stretches them and prepares them for life, family and work.
We understand that each of us has a responsibility to make sure that every other living thing on this planet is accorded the right to exist. What we do to nature, we do to ourselves. We are our eco-system: our poisoned water, air and land is a reflection of our own poisonous thoughts and actions. We believe that we need to learn to live together in harmony and peace.
Adult learning has a role to play in supporting democracy, health, the environment and crime policies to name a few and now it’s time to negotiate. It is time to open a dialogue; voices not bullets are needed now and we want to hear from you.
