One Hour a Day for Learning

20th – 27th March 2009

One Hour A Day for Learning encourages and challenges adults, children and young people alike to give learning a go.   This campaign’s key message is that learning can be part of daily life - One Hour A Day is all it takes and what a difference it makes!

Throughout the campaign week, we will be encouraging museums, galleries, local history groups and other organisations with an interest in learning to highlight some of the learning opportunities that they have to offer.

We want the message that One Hour A Day is all it takes to be on everyone’s lips and it doesn’t matter when you do it, morning, noon or night. The idea of the campaign is to raise awareness that earning in non-traditional settings and contexts – while commuting, at lunchtime, at home, out and about is just as effective as sitting down and dedicating time in a structured way.

One Hour A Day for Learning Ideas

Any event that highlights learning opportunities and the benefits of learning, and can take place within an hour, is well-suited to the One Hour A Day For Learning campaign.

Events might include:

    * Lunchtime or after-work classes
    * The Learning Journey- why not learn while traveling?
    * School challenges and home work sessions
    * Reading and writing together

Why not offer a cultural exchange as part of your one hour a day activity and invite everyone in your area to join in.
