Adult Learners’ Week

17th – 23rd May 2008

Adult Learners’ Week is the UK’s largest and most successful festival and celebration of adult learning.

From the 17th – 23rd May 2008, learners and providers across Scotland will be working with us to promote, celebrate and highlight the learning opportunities available in every part of the country.

During Adult Learners’ Week many providers open their doors to adults encouraging them to pop in, have a chat with an advisor about what they might like to do, or where they might be able to learn a particular subject. Offers of free taster session to encourage people to have a go at something new, and to show adults what is on offer in their local communities are widespread, adverts and stories are already in the local press.

As part of the annual celebration Scotland’s Learning Partnership coordinates the adult learners’ week awards. The awards aim to recognise those adults who have achieved recognition through learning against the odds.  Every year we know that the learners’ stories will help encourage others to take up new learning opportunities. This year there are over 92 local celebration activities highlighting the positive things that learning can achieve.

Look out for the inspirational stories in your part of Scotland better still get in touch with us and find out more about what’s going on.
