Campaigns

Scotland’s Learning Partnership organises and delivers 3 national learning campaigns annually, Adult Learners' Week, the new and improved Family Learning Month and the one for everyone One Hour a Day for Learning. Throughout 2009 the campaign theme will be creativity and innovation.

So why not get creative and try something new.  Scotland has long held a tradition for being first in a number of things from engineering to science, sport to learning.

So why don’t most Scots think that learning will be part of their future?  Could it be that we associate learning with difficult times, getting a job or maybe even poor experiences, or is it that what we’re being offered just doesn’t hit the mark?  That’s why with our partners we are looking to find new ways of getting people involved and getting them into something they enjoy. When you get the bug it’s hard to shake off, but definitely one you’ll want to keep.

Our 3 campaigns are designed to work with our partners to reach out to adults and families who might not otherwise think that learning was for them.  In 2008 the campaigns programme attracted over 76,380 people to local and national events across Scotland. The campaigns work locally to raise awareness of the learning opportunities that exist in each community and to celebrate the achievements of those who have participated in it and to get new people to try something new.

In May 2009 adult learners’ week came of age and celebrated its 18th anniversary, thanks to the hard work and determination of our partner organisations.   We even have proof of your success-the Scottish Government’s most recent NALS report recognises the campaign as the most successful learning campaign in Scotland.

Each year the campaigns profile is better recognised, better understood and better developed and now with over 7,690 people and organisations working with us in our local communities we know we can get to the parts that others can’t reach.

We know that its success is down to you-so please do give up your time and expertise to help us make 2009 a year to remember.

Throughout the year we’ll be hosting a series of ideas days to help you decide what to do, how to do it and who to do it with.  Look out for details in the events section of this website…
