Working Together
Scotland's Learning Partnership is the national voluntary organisation representing the views of learners and providers across Scotland.
Our strength is that we embrace both thinkers and doers, and that learners and providers work together to shape the partnership's programmes and activities. Our vision is to become the most creative, innovative and engaging learning organisation in Scotland and we're working hard to achieve this.
Providing opportunities for learners and providers to celebrate the everyday and remarkable achievements in learning, influence policy and raise awareness of, and promote local learning programmes is our goal. Our successes are significant, with over 7,500 organisations in Scotland supporting the national campaigns programme attracting over 95,000 adults and children to participate in the week long national and local events organised. Adult Learners’ Week in Scotland is the most well-known public campaign about lifelong learning in the UK with 35% of the Scottish public knowing about it (source Adult Participation in Learning survey 2005) .
Developing equality in the relationship between learners and providers is what sets us apart from other learning organisations. We work with learning providers - sharing practice, developing new projects and providing support. But most importantly we work with learners from the most disaffected communities in Scotland creating learning programmes, organising events and working with them to develop their collective voice.
We believe that lifelong, life-wide learning for all is a right not a privilege and that we have a critical role to play in supporting the new Skills for Scotland Strategy by ensuring that everyone, regardless of age or ability, is offered the chance to participate in democratic learning opportunities.
